Here are several safe and effective ways to change your phone’s IP address, depending on what you want to achieve — whether for privacy, troubleshooting, or accessing region-restricted content.
Turn Airplane Mode On and Off
Works for: Mobile data (cellular network)
Turn on Airplane mode for about 30 seconds.
Then turn it off again.
Your carrier will often assign a new IP address automatically.
Reconnect to Wi-Fi
Works for: Wi-Fi networks
Disconnect from the Wi-Fi network.
Reconnect again — sometimes you’ll get a different local IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x).
To change your public IP, you’ll need to reboot your router (unplug for 30–60 seconds and plug back in).
Use a VPN (Virtual Private Network)
Works for: All connections
Install a reputable VPN app (e.g. ProtonVPN, NordVPN, Surfshark, Windscribe).
Choose a server location — your phone will appear to have the IP of that region.
Use a Mobile Proxy or Tor
Mobile proxy: Reroutes your traffic through another device’s mobile network IP. Often used for automation or SEO tasks.
Tor browser: Encrypts and routes through several nodes, changing your visible IP with each connection.
Manually Configure a Static IP (Local Only)
For Wi-Fi LAN IP changes:
Go to Wi-Fi settings → Tap your connected network → Advanced / IP settings.
Change IP settings from DHCP → Static.
Enter your desired local IP (e.g. 192.168.1.250).
Use a Different Network
Connect to another Wi-Fi (e.g. coffee shop, hotspot, friend’s phone).
Each network has its own external IP.
